PROJECT BRIEF:
Design a compelling brand experience for Hallmark's relaunch using IBM's WebSphere system.
SOLUTION:
I began working with Hallmark before their relaunch in late 2004. There were enourmous technical and communications problems which I helped troubleshoot. The largest problem was usability on the main page. Hallmark had decided to go with a large editorial area, and had not considered that half of their audience (dial- ups) would get a blank page with no navigation for close to a minute. I implemented Flash files on the mainpage which allowed us to design for both audiences.
I also documented the templates, created new visual templates, created a styleguide, and did a Information Architecture map as IBM had not provided these to the Hallmark team (due to overt customization). I also helped troubleshoot the code errors. These efforts made the updating process easier, and, allowed better communication among stakeholders for future site implementations within the limits of using a strict e-commerce publishing tool.
