Overview
8 years of experience in the application of qualitative and quantitative research to create compelling, user-centered narratives across devices, software, artifacts, and media to create measurable ROI for clients.

Broad based skills from creating branding/advertising campaigns (print, motion, interaction) to developing detailed information architecture and interaction design solutions that are clear and engaging. Current
Interaction Designer - R+D :  Misys Healthcare : Raleigh, NC
Responsible for IxD and design documentation as part of a small UCD team developing WPF enterprise EMR software. Responsible for reviewing and communnicating design solutions with offshore partner. Participated in ethnographic research within the US healthcare system.

Fall 05 - Spring 06
Adjunct Professor :  KCAI : Kansas City, MO
Teaching a variety of junior and senior classes including Interaction Design (IxD) and Information Architecture (Information theory, dynamic narrative, and infographics). Worked with Katherine Mccoy, Brockett Horne, and Kelly Salchow on independent projects.

June 98 - current
Consultant :  Werkplace : Atlanta, GA
Contracted designer/consultant for various local, national and international clients. Most recent project involved wire framing a Web 2.0 news experience for CNN based on research by Adaptive Path. Client list and references available.

May 05 - November 05
Senior Art Director :  VML / YRB / WPP : Kansas City, MO
Design and marketing strategy for Microsoft Windows Embedded. Concepted integrated global marketing campaign which included print, web sites, interactive advertising, viral campaigns, and art installations. Outsourced ethnographic research of the Chinese Linux developer community. Gathered quantitative research on global embedded developers. Demonstrated value of deep research strategy in the design process to facilitate better communication and media buys. Created design documents, tech specs, and persona development for the campaign and introduced new processes to WPP. Designed media installations, such as "Tapestry Remoting" using ubiquitous networked devices. Managed multiple designers, illustrators, programers, and photographers. Project more than doubled the traffic and downloads of the Windows Embedded XP operating system.

August 04 - May 05
Designer :  Hallmark.com : Kansas City, MO
Design of online marketing campaigns and special projects for the hallmark.com relaunch. Created information architectue, wireframes, and design documentation of both existing sites. Intermediary between IBM conultants, Hallmark marketing, and the IT department. Worked with Moira Cullen to redesign the architecture, interaction design, and taxonomy of Hallmark's global brand intranet. Responsible for creating enhanced editorial features utilizing motion design.

August 01 - August 04
Art Director :  Spur Communications / D3 : Kansas City, MO
Direction, design, project management and information architecture for brand development, web sites, annual reports, catalogs, advertising, installations, and collateral communications. Responsibilities include contracting photography, illustration, copywriting, directing photo shoots, directing supporting designers, and production for print and internet. Involved with cost estimating and proposals. Also conducted focus groups and ethnographic research. IxD projects (software, large intranets) returned significant, measurable savings for clients.

Interaction Design, Communication Design, and Information Architecture for online annual reports and investor relations sites. Ongoing freelance for interactive editorials.

Direction, design, and information architecture for online annual reports, intranets, corporate and investor relations sites. Also involved with wireless development and communications solutions across print and web, writing proposals, and cost estimating. Clients included Motorola, Rayonier, AT&T, Avaya, and IBM.

Responsible for daily graphics, corporate ID, interface design, in-depth sections, on-air graphics, and interactive sections. Worked with teams of writers, producers, and supporting designers to generate special sections for cross media delivery. Ongoing consulting and freelance.

Worked on a variety of projects with a wide range of responsibilities. This included print annual reports, direct mail, promotional materials, multimedia presentations, and advertising campaigns. Clients included Coca-Cola, IBM, Imnet, and Bezer Homes.
