VIEW PROJECT

PROJECT BRIEF:
Design the intro for CNN@20, a CD-ROM chronical of the first 20 years of CNN. Deadline of two days.

SOLUTION:
An outsourced design firm came back to CNN management with a prototype that had soft drifting photos and jazz music. They were pulled off the project for failing to capture the essence of a 24 hour breaking news environment. Working with the entire video archive, sound files, and images from world events, I built the intro as a deconstruction of the user interface. It is a fast-paced linear progression through significant world events. This included the Challenger disaster, Desert Storm, and the OJ Simpson car chase. I worked with a musician to resample a punchy Squarepusher track with a sudden conclusion.

The CD-ROM quickly sold out in the United Kingdom and has been through multiple reissues.
